THE COMPLETE STRATEGY LANDSCAPE
The session builds on the discussion of Edward Jones’ response to its changing business environment, widening the focus to embrace the complete strategy landscape. In particular, digital business models and novel ways of competing are examined that create, rather than just capture value.
The lecture introduces “The Complete Strategy Framework” which covers value creation, capture and realization. Emphasis is placed on how firms can exploit the evolving opportunity set to create enormous entrepreneurial value with a novel business model – a unique “job to be done”, monetization method and set of assets. The emergence of digital platforms is used as the primary example that underpins the market capitalization of the world’s most successful companies.
